Salim David currently farms roses and organic vegetables near Hyderabad. He also consults for exports and domestic sales especially in the area of processed foods. He writes occasionally in national and international publications on topics relating to agriculture, processed foods and government policy.
And economics graduate of St Stephen’s College Delhi and a postgraduate in the same subject from Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, Salim spent most of his career with the FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever Limited. Here he headed several businesses in the foods division with turnover running to several hundred crore rupees annually. After a brief stint abroad, he pioneered the export of cooked and cleaned frozen tuna from India as his first business venture.
His current focus, apart from farming, is to develop best agricultural practices in and around the villages of his farm.
